Default Back firing thru tail pipe and carb.

A friend of mine has 1 1996 Vulcan Classic 1500that is back firing thru the tail pipe and thru thr carb. Several so called mecahnics have looked at the bike and replaced the electronic unit, rebuilt the carb etc....

I am hopoing that the problem is somethin that may be common to this model and maybe some one else would be able to make a suggestion of what to look for.

Hi,
I have the same problem with my 1500 classic-97. I posted a Q in the swedish vulcan forum and got a tip that it's caused by the reedbackvalve. I'm going to modify this myself when I put the bike away for the winter. Here's a link to some pictures about how to modify it. http://www.vulcanriders-sweden.org/t...0/reedlock.htm

Unfortunately it's in swedish but the pictures are quite good so you'll get a good hint on how to do it anyway.

Question: A stock ride should not have these issues, so what is different on the '96? How many miles are on the ride?
