The advancer got here today. Here's a picture of what's going on. Haven't done too much of a test ride yet, but the throttle response is a bit better, and will rev a bit quicker.
I really just need to bite the bullet and do the jet kit.

Mine still isn't in yet. Any special tools required? How long for install? It looks pretty "cut and dry", but is there anything I should know?

It's pretty cut and dry. There's like 6 8mm bolts to be removed. The one at the very top of the case was loc-tighted. There is a gasket on there, so be kind of careful when you remove the case unless you have a spare. There is a 17mm nut that holds the timing wheel on. When you go to turn it, I think the cams will move. Mine did a little. Since I didn't have a hammer here, I used a 4 D cell mag light to hit the end of my 1/2" drive to loosen the nut. The gear piece just slides off. If you look at the splines, there's only one way off and one way on. It can't be screwed up. You'll see. To tighten the nut back on, I ended up tapping the wrench to snug it. I've heard of people trying to use a screw driver to hold the gear. I've also heard of the gear getting broken that way.

MIne still won't be here for a few days. I will try to get it on this weekend while there is a bunch of snow outside. Maybe I can fit it in somewhere between CHem and trig homework

Installed mine today. You were right...very easy job. Took me about 15 minutes total. For anyone else doing this, one piece of advice would be to leave it on the side stand. My bike was on the stands and a little (very small) amount of oil came out. I think if it is on the side stand it would not leak any at all. Didn't have a chance to ride it yet, so no report on performance gains.
