Question Do i need an exhaust? :)

so my wallet is getting closer to getting an exhaust and I've been listening to sound clips and for fun I just took off my pipe just b/c. I started up my bike and it is deep and throaty at an iteal mean as H E double hockey stick at high revs. I now my bike needs back pressure but will it hurt it riding it w/out my pipe on and I would like as close to that pipeless sound as possible but maybe not soooo loud has anyone done or heard of opening up a stock pipe and removing baffles. I'm open to just about anything but would really like to keep as much of that low growl of a sound that comes w/out a pipe. Any of you that have changed yours and started it before installing a new know exactly what i'm talking about. thnx

you might lose a couple of horsepower...I have some friends that just have the slash cut coming out from the bottom...doesn't hurt their bikes...

im about to buy a jardine pipe for my bike, dont quote me on this but i think its in the neighborhood of 104dcb. its nothing but 2bros and yosh around my area. With the gutted can im sure the change in power will be negligible...without the can tho i bet youd lose a few ponies. plus no can= sound violations.

i cut my muffler in half and made a shorty pipe, and the noise is fun for awhile but eventully it gets annoying... check out ebay for a slip on i found a really nice micron one for around $200. it was a red fade to black... but if you still want to cut your stock muffler buy one off ebay to butcher, that way you always have the option to return it to stock.
