California emissions lawsuit BS!
ORIGINAL: robot_monkey
Of course they have the right to sue. Didn't the gov't sue cigarette companies? Have you ever heard of marketing? Creating a need? Once you become dependant on vehicles it's difficult to start walking again. Car companies have a responsibility to be in compliance with regulations and an obligation to work toward making their vehicles safe. Should we have not removed asbestos? You guys are simple minded fools. The world isn't black and white; all facets of life are interdependent.

1. They are ugly as hell, nobody wants to be seen in those things.
2. They are no fun to drive, they are too slow, they aren't good on the freeway, etc.
3. There is no freaking hydrogen, mass production of hydrogen is too expensive, and the process uses so much electricity that it generates almost as much greenhouse gases as a gas powered car.
The car companies already have the technology to produce lower emission vehicles, the only thing they are guilty of is not building a product that they cant sell, and if you think that is wrong then you are living in the wrong country.
electrice cars were recalled, and killed, just like the trolly's. There is no reason that they can't put a nice body on an efficient car. For all we know, car companies are in cahoots with oil companies. Like the credit card companies that will not give up all the dollars they make on fees, I suspect that many of these companies strive to maintain their current standing. I'm just saying that things need to be investigated and people need to be held accountable. Unlike the nmrods who believe they have a choice, and they exert personal responsibility...that comes with education and the environmental conditions that permit those powers. talk about dumbasses! Is it the personal choice of all those who are increasingly suffering asthma and other conditions because of your vehicles? Do you know who pays for all the pollution big companies produce? Do you know who bails their asses out when they are in trouble?

Bottom Line: There is a problem and it needs to be fixed, but suing the car companies is not the answer. Since the 70's the world's governments have been limiting greenhouse gas production and have made incredible progress in slowing the destruction of our planet. Unfortunately the US has been alot slower than the rest of the world in these efforts. If you really want to make a difference, stop ranting on forums where noone cares, and go tell the government to catch up with the rest of the world, follow Kyoto regulations etc. One person can make a difference, but it wont happen if you spend all your time here.
lmao maybe it's our medicine we puff out here
really i wonder whylive here sometimes but it's 70 degrees right now and the roads are great out here. the ocean veiws and all. sorta makes up for the f**ked up shiznit out here.

I happen to know someone who works at one of those Companys that sunk millions of dollars into research and development of full electric cars.
The project was axed at the end of proto build. Never made production. Company didnt see a profitable market at the time. What happen to the ones that where around??? You got me.
Yea, ugliest damn car I ever seen. I would rather drive a Ford Festiva...
They still have the technology and are developing better stuff. Its quite possible to see a ElectricSUV that will out perform a gasoline engine SUV down the road. Maybe not times at the track but towing, HP, Toqure. Myself Im not a big fan of it. But I would concider myself a bit oldschool...

I got into a debate about this subject with a guy who was majoring in hydrogen technology and when I brought up that hydrogen cars were slow as hell, his response was that an electric motor can provide an infinite amount of torque at 0 RPM. He just doesn't realize that torque does not equal horsepower and a fuel cell vehicle cannot generate enough electricity to produce that much torque. But if they build a low emission vehicle that cancome close toor exceed the performance, towing, and excitement of a normal vehicle, that's affordable and doesn't make me look like a tool, I'm all over it.
