I think mine came out of a Torino,, I think..

I need to run the numbers on it . I'm getting the motor from an old friend
of mine.Like friends for 30+ years. He sold it to a guy that had a 68 coupe too
but someone hit him and he was done with it.
It has all been rebuilt but i'm kinda shaky on just what he put into it.

I do know that it has never been turned over as it is still on the engine stand in my buddy's barn.
I'm gonna pic it up for a grand,but it has no intake or distributor. I want to pull the cam and check it also as I have no idea
what grind it is. When it all comes together I will post some pix.[8D]

 

Dont get me wrong I like the gto's, but how is 400hp going to KILL 390hp. Are you sure it wasnt the 01 svt with only 320hp? Are these cars both stock or do you have a few goodies... lol Btw wow 400hp stock I didnt know that till I looked it up thoes are some good #s. Just fyi we did a super charger on a 02 zo6 and it put down 530hp to the wheels, this car is bad.... What do ya think? How would like that in the gto.... hahaha I sound like a fn salesman...lol

 

I used not to like mustangs at all, I guess the big reason was because everyone and his brother has one. You can't drive through town without seeing at least a dozen of them, and I live in a small town.

Well anyways a buddy of mine got a 98 Cobra and wanted to race me (I have a 93 300zxTT stock). He had done a little work to his and was putting down about 320hp i belive, and mine puts down 300hp stock. The point is I couldn't belive the low end torque that car had, way more than my 300. I did end up beating him, however I didn't pass him until around 40mph, and then I just slowly left him. Of course my car wouldn't stand a chance against the newer Cobras now.

After that I got a lot more respect for the mustang, and if I had the money wouldn't mind having a cobra for a DD. They are nice cars and are probably a blast to drive.

 

yeah they have a magnason s/c a tt set up, a procharger set up, a vortex, and a sts turbo so yeah and they all make over 550 to the wheels. also the corba was a 03 svt cobra and its on base here in grand forks and i crushed it i got him on the tree and all i could see was him in my rear view the whole way down. oh yeah do you have the procharger or a whipple for the 2006 get im interested.

 

If you are really interested I will see. I not at the shop right now so I cant get no prices or product info, but it is not worth going through us unless you are local. We are in Fresno, but if you just want a price or brand offer I can see about that.

 

yeah i know the procharger runs about 5500 and thats with out install. im in north dakota but maybe when i get back from england in 3 years ill hit you up

 

i havent changed my pulley yet and i dyno'd 411 at the rear wheels. after the pulley changes and maybe a supercharger port i should be at 500.

love that car. 07 gt 500 is sweet too...but a lesson learned from the 03...dont buy first production runs...wait for the last...that is when i bought mine. some early cobra's had ticking problems. all of them had programming problems until 2004 lol

 

7000 dollars later i will have 650 whp and that will be with everything like a custom tune install headers cam fuel system.

A stock GTO has never in any magazine comparison or at any of my local dragstrips come anywhere near touching an 03+ Cobra. It simply weighs way too much. Now your talking about breaking out aftermarket blowers. Put a Kenne Bell on that Cobra and its goodbye GTO. A full exhaust on the 03+ will net 75+ hp to the REAR WHEELS. Do some research. At my local drags the GTOs are pulling 8.9s consistently on the 1/8th. 8.4 was the fastest I have seen and that was with exhaust mods and a blower. I have yet to see any cobra no matter how terrible the driver run slower than 8.4. That guy on base just can't drive end of story. The GTO is a cool concept I wish Ford would have continued and upgraded the Marauder. Sorry for the long post I just couldn't listen to ppl trash the Cobra. Im a Ford guy but c'mon I'm not going to sit here and say the Z06 is slow but c'mon the GTO just isnt in the same class as a Cobra it should be compared to a Charger now thats a fair comparison.
