Default receiver hitch for my mx bike and boat trailer

Hello,

I am looking to place a mx bike carrier between my receiver on my 2004 F250 and the tongue of my boat trailer? Is the such a thing? Where would I find one?

Thanks.

Brieninsac,

Thanks for the reply. Several of those racks would be nice if just hauling a bike. I am trying to find something like those racks but also add a 2" ball to tow my boat at the same time. Here it can be anywhere from 30.00 to 50.00 bucks for a shuttle while floating and fishing. If I can carry my bike and tow the boat, I could save that shuttle money for BEER!

Maybe a 18" receiver extension with a home made rack to carry the bike? Any more thoughts?

There is no way you'd want to put a trailer of any size on one of these racks. They're not very stable as it is. They are only designed/strong enough to carry your bike, nothing else.

Well I am more thinking of taking an receiver extension that would be used with an overhanging camper in the bed of a pickup and mount a rack like you mention to the extension. This way I could still tow the boat. I don't think my tongue weight is extensive with the boat as it is. I stand on the tongue and really see no added spring pressure. I guess it doesn't mean that won't be the way doing 75 mph on the highway though.

why not put the bike in the bed?

Another option would be to place the motorcycle rack on the front if you have a hitch mount up there

It really depends on how big the item that you are towing. I suspect that a small bass boat or small utility trailer would be fine using this pass through carrier.

Actually I like Red's idea better. I've seen front mounted 2 inch receivers.

Yea, Red's idea is a good one. If I were hauling just the bike then the rear would be the spot, if I am towing my raft on my overbuilt trailer, the front would be the way to go. I need to figure out the total weight of the trailer and boat to make sure that weight is not excessive.

Not sure I would like a bug splattered bike though on the front........

I like leaving my truck cap on for a lot of different reasons, mostly carrying stuff for whatever trip we are on and keeping it dry.

I'll look into a front receiver first then go from there.
