Default A Pic of the Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner I Prepared

My girl did not want a turkey for thanksgiving....no goose...no duck, so I had to come up with sumthin....it was just the two of us and one of her girlfriends was going to stop by...no problem I'll figure out sumthin .... a lighter, healthier Thanksgiving with no leftovers. wtf I'm a cracker not a magician.

I was kinda bummed ...... I REALLY like smoked turkey...but what the heck I like an adventure.

Had yesterday, Wednesday, off work.....so I took the skiff out to see what I could rustle up.

First I dip netted for shrimps before first light and actually got a couple pounds plus. Then buzzed out to the coral heads, strapped on a tank and caught four bugs (aka lobsters)....hmm only 9 am at this point..what next.

Ran up north a little to the Jupiter inlet and did some clamming ..... got a couple dozen...hmmm not bad.

But this was too much like work so I broke out the flyrod and chased some permit I spotted .. but to no avail...bastids. Ok it's 11 now ... time to head back to the dock, at least I got sumthin to start with.

I assessed my catch and figured I better swing by the grocery store or fish market. I picked up two pounds of mussels and figured with some venison sausage I was good to go.

Cooked today and made it all outside on the grill.......Clams till they opened on the fire....mussels steamed in a pot with white wine, garlic and scallions....bug tails on the grill till red....shrimps with some jerk seasoning wrapped in foil on the grill....and some fresh bread and wine.

Not bad for mostly living off the land....and the girls luved it....I perfer turkey thou....maybe I'll smoke one next week.

That so aint right, those stupid little tree rats dont deserve to grace your plate.

Nice effort FM. Looks good and I hate anything fishy. But kudos bro! Whitey...that's an awesome dinner anytime. For X-Mas we have Pizza Hut and KFC every year! Me, had some prime rib at the g/f's parents, mmmm.

That looks great man. The only non-traditional thing we did was deep fry some chicken this year. My wife and I are not real big fans of turkey, so after the turket finished in the fryer, we put two whole chickens in there and deep fryed them. Deep fried chicken is much better
