Sweet, it works! Now I have to read the manual. This thing has more controls than the Space Shuttle. My last real nice SLR camera was circa 1980 and things have changed a bit since then.

You got that right, I have a lot to learn about this thing, it does so much I think my head is going to explode. It is easy to use right away, though, just point and shoot and that'll get you a pretty darn good photo.

I'll have to read up on what it can do effect wise in-camera. But I'm mostly interested in the overall photo capabilities which are what make these shine - great optics, sensor, decent shutter rate - 8 frames per second continuous, good low light sensitivity, all that jaz, and pretty much full control over it all. Great for high speed action shots and bursts as well as stills. The specs blow me away. And it feels so satisfying to shoot, press the shutter release and clickclick. Reminiscent of the smoothest, crispest trigger pull on an expensive gun. A real joy to shoot. It's heavy, too - solid, magnesium body, built like a tank. Should hold up well.

I'd love to give it a try at the track, but to be honest, I'd rather be ridin'.

Still, few things are more satisfying that a great shot. Not that I know much about that, I have a long way to go before my good shot / bad shot ratio improves.
