Reading the article, it mentions targeting bike rallies and (at least one) motorsport venue. Yes, I can understand the INTENT of checking the "rough crowd" of Harley hooligans and old chopped Honda riders rolling into Sturgis, etc., BUT.....you set a precedent for "profiling" when you do that. (My own opinion) As much as I may think those guys with more attitude than brains riding internal combustion concoctions I probably wouldn't SIT ON, really DO give the rest of us a bad name, you just can't go "targeting" a particular venue or demographic just because they're in a convenient group. If you have "probable cause," that's a different situation. A "random" (yeah; right) checkpoint for bikes only is just plain unconstitutional.

It's a money maker. And an unconstitutional one at that. An easy group to target without a whole lot of outcry from the general public. "Get those lawbreaking hooligans."
Here in Idaho, I understand that LEO can no longer set up check points to stop random or all vehicles. I was speaking with a Homeland Security fellow though who said they set up "Drug Check Road Stop Ahead" signs on some particular more remote highways that are known for contraband running. They don't actually have a check point, but will swoop right in on anyone who stops and acts su****ious, like throwing stuff out of their vehicle.
