Default A look at what's under my hood

Well I finally got a few things figured out on the car.....so I got to bring her to work today

I love how this car, just squats into the corners!!! Only crappy thing is that she stalled on me, so I've got to figure that out.....could be many things I guess, old gas, fuel injectors are probably dirty....

Oh well, still fun!!

Only thing that I have changed on this car was the tires, I wanted them a little wider than the stock ones.........they're awesome!!!

Am not, well not you anyways

I find cars pretty easy to figure out......last year I fought with a bunch of guys about the problem I had with the car not starting....I told them it was the plugs, but they didn't believe me. Well long and short of it - it was the plugs!!! God I love it when I'm right!!!

my dad has been a GM mechanic his whole life so it kinda rubbed off on my, im a whole lot better at cars than bikes... what year is it? could be a sensor, mass air flow sensor, throttle positioning sensor, crankshaft senser, change the fuel filter? throttle body could use cleaned im betting...

was that a v6 in there? if so time to rip it out and drop in a 350!!!! [sm=gears.gif]

Its a 1991 - I know its not (well it damn well shouldn't be!!!) the EGR, that was replaced last year as the engine light kept coming on and the idle was pretty erratic.

Any advice you can throw at me would be awesome!!! I know its just a boring old Firebird with a V6, but its my first car and I would never be able to part with it!

Thanks EMS, much appreciated!

Ahhh, I see you have edited your post.......yes it is a V6 - and I'm not replacing it as of yet.....I'm gonna run that thing till it won't!! Actually it performs pretty well for a 6, plus it get pretty good gas mileage!

And for the record - I did show that other pic.........

take off the intake hose that goes right into the throttle body, with it off of course, open the butterfly vavle clean the part of the valve that moves and around it, and as far in as you can reach with a rag or something, use carb choke cleaner, that should help the idle and throttle response, thing probably just needs a tune up, a new pcv valve could help too.... i would for sure change the fuel filter, everyone seems to forget about that thing.... is it the 2.8l, 3.4l or 3.8l v6? if the check engine light is on go to like autozone and have the codes read, i have the computer to do that, it will tell you were to start throwing parts at it... ill put money on a sensor.. probably mass air flow... stupid computer stuff in cars...

Thanks - I'll give that a try.......I'll let you know what I find. The fuel filter should be changed, as far as I know, its still the original one.
