Hell I figure it would be cheaper to just pay a fine than try to get legal. If I'm on a long trip I just keep my gun unloaded and in the trunk. As long as you are moving you are fairly safe. If I break down, or see a potential threat, I get my gun and load it. I carry a cheap 45 ACP so if it gets confiscated, oh well. I'll just tell them to keep the damn thing.
Now, if I'm out of the car and walking through a bad area, I have a holster and I carry my gun loaded. I feel that if you are abiding the law while on foot, the chances of getting caught are minimal.
Again, it is easier to just carry than get legal, considering I go to a lot of different states. I guess I have always been a rebel!

the penalties in different states vary, in MD expect to spend time in jail.

and its easy to get legal for most states, very easy.

 

Fortunately I probably wont ever come to Maryland! Besides, if you have a concealed carry permit, and they ever outlaw guns, the people with permits are screwed! Thats the first people that will be expected to turn in their guns! I'm getting my tin foil hat out right now!
