What's up good people, oh and you too Worlok...hahahaha just messing buddy. Well I've put it off long enough, today I start teaching my son how to drive. He starts drivers ed in just over a week. YIKES!!!! He's too young to get his permit till July but can start the class. In other news my 99 Dodge Ram 2500 developed a transmission problem and was stuck in 3rd gear, it finally started working again, I guess thats what happens when stuff sits for weeks on end. I need to change the transmission fluid and filter ASAP! DOH!!! I better get to riding the KLX before something happens to it. Drag races today at the airport about 3 blocks from my house, so that should be loud unless it rains which it looks like could be any minute. Let's see what else is going on,,,,Oh yeah, someone gave me a $700 BBQ so I cleaned it up (no surprise there) and all it needs is the 3 main burners replaced. It's got a double side burner, a smoker burner, and infrared rotisserie burner and real casters like they put on a Snap-On tool box. I'm thinking of trying to make some burners myself. They want $60.00 each for the burners!!! So I'll see what I can come up with. either making new ones or adapting a universal burner. Here are a few pictures.

Free is sometimes good. Stay away from orange flames though on the burners.

My advice on the teenage driving drama, take him out to a pasture field and let him get used to things. Good time for the dad/son bonding thing, and not much he can hurt. My daughter and I did that in the old Rover.

random question: what was your favorite ""daily driver""generally affordable"everyday on the road" car of 60-79? yes you can pick a couple, its not a contest and you get nothing for this haha i just want to know to narrow future craigslist searches for something like that, and nothing speaks of a cars personality more than experience with it... so what ya got?

Mine was an International Harvester, a John Deer and an early '70's ford hi-boy

 

Gas prices were different then. My daily driver was a '75 Grand Prix. Learned GREAT mechanical chops on that car. Fuel pump, water pump, brakes, body, suspension, engine, ..tough to beat a Detroit V-8 for fairly easy wrenching, good performance (except for fuel mileage) and reliability. Parts are reasonable, and fairly common, too.

 

Mine was a '66 Thunderbird until I blew the motor and couldn't afford to fix it so rode the 750LTD for over a year and through one full east Idaho winter . Than a Nissan 210 before the next winter set in.
