Yea and they charge an extra $8,000 for it. Yea that makes sense. Lets save the environment and rip off the people at the same time. everyone wins.............[:@][:@][:@][:@]................and one for good measure.[:@]
Keep in mind that manufacturers oftenpresent veryoptymistic figures- prius for example does no better then 35, and even that is a stretch. I think that the whole idea of a hybrid makes sense only when coupled with efficient diesel engine and the only real alternative is to get a very light car with a small petrol engine, like a Smart(whichBTW comes with a diesel option too), or like my Peugeot 107 (50 mpg, yay!).Theres more - Toyota Yaris (from that site I gather is is being sold over in US)has a diesel option, VW Golf has a range of turbocharged small diesel or petrol engines, etc.
Even though FIATisnot being offered in US,some of the stuff they are working on is interesting nevertheless, like the 110bhp 0.9 liter turbocharged 2 cyllinder petrol engine. If you're interested theres this article, it's over a year old and since then some ofthose engines were introduced to the market, and specs are bit different (example: 1.4 liter T-jet is rated at 150 bhp) but it's still pretty informative: http://www.italiaspeed.com/2006/cars...ines/0911.html

A couple of people I know here in the bay area have the US spec smart and say they are avg getting 36-38mpg. They love the car but were disapointed in how low the mpg is. I mean my 96 civic is faster and gets just a tad lower mpg 35-37 range
thats curious. Smart should have to be able to get at least 40 mpg. I wonder what are the changes in specs for US market. Stone, I agree, the only benefit you get is that you can say to anyone who cares that you have a hybrid. All the extras (safety features, air con, interiors) make modern cars weigh more then their 80s predecesors, thats part of the problem.
Hey I just discovered a new button. right next to the thread name, it takes you to the end of the thread instead of having to start from the first page. [sm=headbang.gif][sm=smiley9.gif]
I was checking the a ... specs on the end line, for the rotary, girder, I'm retarded."
