Default fuel tank disaster

just bought a 03' meanie a few months ago. I noticed the bike started to "chug" every time at a half tank. I opened the tank and showed it to some my buds. They told me that it looked like someone tried to "cream" the tank and failed. There is gunk caked up in the tank, is there a method I can use to get this crap out my tank. Please help, I love this Kaw!

man, welcome to kf
I have not dealt with a creamed tank. I would be considering a new tank personally.

Cream for gas tanks is a good product for old rusted tanks, but if the procedure is not followed it could be quite a mess.
If it were me, I would get about 30 stainles steel nuts, put them in the tank, and shake it for as long as I could stand to shake it to loosen up any loosley adhered gunk. Rinse it out with carburator cleaner, then rinse it out with gas. That should get out all of the loose stuff! On the last rinse with gas, pour it out through a coffee filter and check to make sure that there is not a bunch of loose stuff in the tank!

2 seconds is not good enough strong arms. lol.... Some people have tried using BB's in the tank as well for cleaning.

Some options are discussed on the ADV Rider forum. Here's a link:
How do you remove Kreem tank liner? - ADVrider

I've not experienced removing Kreem, but I have to wonder about using a few bottles of brake fluid and letting the tank sit? If brake fluid will remove paint from your car, wouldn't it do the same for the inside of your tank? Another idea is maybe some industrial strength oven cleaner? The important thing to note, is NEVER mix-up different jugs of cleaners...you can literally create an acid-base reaction that will explode in your face. If you prefer the "shrapnel in the tank" approach. put some in, and try taking to a local paint store and use their paint shaker. Might take some extra foam to wrap the tank so it's not damaged by the clamps.
