Default Do you tip at Sonic drive in?

I went to lunch at Sonic today with this guy I work with and the only reason we went to Sonic, was because we had to eat in a hurry to get back for a meeting. This super sweet high school girl brought out our lunch, gave us a big smile, and ask how our day was going, really sweet kid.
I gave my coworker enough money for a dollar tip, but after he had paid her, he handed my dollar back and stated that you are not suppose to tip at Sonic or any other drive in.
I told him that he was a tight wad *****, ( sans abbreviation ) , and said that I always tip those kids just to help them out.
He thought it was totally nuts to tip at any drive in. What do you guys do?

What's Sonic? The only Sonic I know is the Seattle Sonics, and now they are leaving Seattle.

Deej, you certainly lead a sheltered life. Does Washington have Mc Donalds? Do wild Indians still roam the land?.............LOL

Yea we got McDonald's in Washington, but the nearest one is an hour away. lol And we do have three Indian reservations here within 20 miles of town.

We don't have sonics here in the north west which kinda sucks. And yes we do have wild Indians that roam the plains. I have wanted to shoot a few in the last couple of years.

Yeah, I knew a few Cherokees in Oklahoma and those dudes went plum crazy when they got drunk. Every time we got drunk together, we ended up in a fight. Most of the time with each other!
