Bike thieves! Well, thieves in general, but a special place in hell is reserved for bike thieves.

No, it was my good friends' bike. Stolen from his house. Bike was locked up with a thick cable through the rear wheel and frame, he said it was pretty clear where they skidded the bike across the driveway and loaded it into a vehicle. Happened while he was at work today. We were actually about to go riding this evening until I got his call saying his bike was gone.

He is a Durham city police officer which just means he knows the odds of recovery are pretty low.

If anyone sees it pop up on Craigslist, please let me know. Would love to recover this bike. He cannot afford to replace it and he has put a lot of work into it and has just got it set up near perfectly. We went riding in WV a few weekends ago (ride report here and here) and he was talking about how happy he was with it. He just had the suspension redone. And his girlfriend just bought him a jet kit and some other parts, he said they showed up in the UPS truck while he was in the driveway filing the police report. Ugh. We were going to race a hare scramble this weekend. Damn.

Damn thieves. Hope they get theirs.

I hate thieves in general, but to steal something that a guy has a special love for....well that's just not right. That's right up there with stealing your wife.......unless you wanted her gone. LOL I hope they get run over by a train, and the bike doesn't get a scratch. That really sucks. I just got a new neighbor, he's a Deputy Sheriff and it will be nice to have that car in the neighborhood.

Let me guess...the neighbors saw nothing...unfortunately he is right about the recovery...the bike is already in pieces...best bet would be to watch ebay for the plastics if they have been custom painted...
