Direct TV or Dish Network?

RE: Direct TV or Dish Network?
Even when I get rid of cable tv, (which costs me $90/month for the basic digital!) I'm still keeping the cable high speed Internet service. I don't want DSL.
I'm surprised nobody here seems to use Dish network. What concerns me most about either service is how high of quality their high-def channels look. Both carriersuse a heavily compressed signal for HD, and they both scale down the resolution some. From what I've read, some people have not been overly happy with the picture quality of Direct's HD content. But, Direct also has way more HD channels, and for less money. To me, this is a tough call.[&:]

LOL I just voted and the Dish showed one vote I hate Direct TV's on screen guide. Oh well who cares as long as you get what you want right?

Why no DSL? I had Cable internet, and it pissed me off so bad that I went back to DSL. Cable internet slows down during peak hours. DSL doesn't. And in some places, you can get DSL that is faster than cable. Just something to think about. Oh yeah, and Direct TV FTW!

I had Charter (they are the only ones that offered service in housing) and it would lag out all the time. I couldn't play XBox live with it, because it would lag me out of games. I went with the 6mbps DSL and have had no more problems.

At fort campbell we had comcast and it was great. Time-warner does offer roadrunner light and I have heard that it has problems in that area, maybe they gave you guys a version of that service to save $$ and bandwidth.
