on the meter, my ja brother wanted to test the wiring in his bronco and ended up doing a bunch of other stuff to it so i wont be getting the meter back for a few weeks. the pilot lights fine, stays lit, i kick on the controls on the wall mounted switch (i forget the name) it ignites the burners, about 45 seconds being lit, the fans kick on and i get warm air blowing out of all my room vents, then about 15, 25 minutes later it just goes out, completly, no burners, no pilot. no fire but gas is still coming out.
After seeing your lovely antique unit of what I saw. I would think that the GV is sticking and is going bonkers on ya. But without a meter to varify, that would be my opinion. One, have not had a limit stick closed to allow the control voltage to even be at the valve. So would say that the fan/limit is ok. I am really thinking gas valve issue here if the pilot goes out and the main gas is still going.
side note: Had a call yesterday, too much manifold pressure blowing the pilot out with the gas still going. Was initially caused by a bad T stat (intermittant starting) along with the high manifold pressure. Replaced the stat, adjusted manifold pressure, was good to go.

The kit cost 125.00 and the limit about 35.00 if you want to pay for the parts I will put it in for you. Let me know.
It sucks being cold. Electric heat would probably cost ½ as much to keep you warm through the rest of the winter.
It is 73 at my house always
yes but if the vale is letting gas come out with out the pilot on the valve is shot. Retrofit kit has new valve, and ignition box for same price as new valve. So do the box and eliminate the standing pilot. This is all still assuming that there is no hole in the firebox that could possibly be blowing flame out into the burner compartment and setting off roll out limit.
Land lord should replace that death trap just to cover his own arss, let alone to take care of his tenant.
