Geez....you have a way of making people laugh!!
but I'll let you in on a secret........spurs hurt and I know cause, I jabbed myself in the side of the leg with one by accident when I was getting off a horse (I'm the biggest clutz!)

Ya, spurs hurt..... we were training a cutting horse one day, and I was elected to be the cow!! Whoopee... ya, it hurts!! ..... we always learn the hard way..
I worked on a ranch through high school.. it beat working at McDonalds ya know... anyway we had a cutting horse we sent to TX to lean out.. when we got her back we needed to fine tune her.. so I was the cow she would cut... We had 2 horses we trained for western pleasure competition, and one barrell racer... It was fun... kinda like riding a bike, it's addictive..

I never thought about it, but probably would help with riding a bike... of all the things, cutting horses was by far the funnest!! Barrell was cool, but over too fast... when you have a good cutting horse, jumping back and forth, and leaning down cornering a cow, it's a blast.. way funner than any roller coaster!! I never did jumping, that looks like a pretty technical event tho' ....

Actually a horse that I used to ride was used for cattle penning. The reason the owner decided to do that with the horse was because the horse was terrified of cows. I guess she got to be pretty good at it.
