Default which tire?

I'm running power race med tires, but will need new ones soon. Wondering if I should stick with michelin or try dunlop D208GP or Bridgestone BT-002. They've got soft compound for the same price of my mediums. The power race soft are comparable in price to the SportmaxGP and BT-Pros, price too high for me. The main characteristic i'm concerned about is grip. Were anyone able to compare those tires?

Are you going to use them for street or trackday or both? IMO the stock Bridgestone BT-014's are awesome even at the track. Sport rider gave them almost the same rating as the Michelin Pilot Powers. I am very impressed with the Bridgestone Tires. I also just got a set of Pilot Race tires for "Trackday Only" use.

Here are the Sport Rider Ratings: From the Highest to the lowest.

Dunlop Qualifier 91.4 Showed significant wear
Michelin pilot Power 89.3 Minimal wear
Bridgestone BT-014 89.0 Moderate wear
Metzeler Sportec M-1 87.3 Moderate wear
Pirelli Diablo 86.0 Minimal wear
Avon Viper Sport 83.7 More than average wear
Contnental Contisport Attack 80.7 Hardly any Wear
Maxxis Supermaxx M6029 79.0 Moderate Wear
Tomahawk T3 Sport 73.1 Light to moderate wear with significant front tire edge wear

These tires were tested on the City Streets, Freeway and High & Low Speed Curvy Roads using GSXR1000 & CBR600RR.

Default RE: which tire?

Thanks for the input. I remember reading the reviews in my mag, still waiting for the race tire reviews. My old pilot powers were great and stock bridgestones were also good, but the bidgestones chattered when pushed hard (i'm guessing from the 65 series or maybe setup). The pilot race med is really great but chaparral has D208GPs on special, so i'd pay less for those soft than my med. Do you know if the GPs warm up as fast as the Power Race, or longer? Which Power Race are you running, any input on the GPs?

I have always stuck with bridgestones m8 for me they give you everything right now i am running BT 0140's and when it stops raing in scotland i will change to a softer compound tried a few different tyres like pirelli and dunolp just feel my bike is more stable with the bridgestones , although for track days i use pirelle diablos...... if all u want is pure grip then go with the diablo pirelle .........

Sport rider gave them almost the same rating as the Michelin Pilot Powers.
That statement says it all, Pilot Powers for the street. Pilot race or Power race for the track.

JMO race tires are not good for street ridding, to much heat up and cool down.

How much does Chapperal have the power race for right now, those puppies cost a sh%t load! and were you refering to the store in San Bernardino?

I agree on the heat cycles because I end up wasting tires; even though they still got thread, they've been through enough cycles that they degrade and lose grip.

Tire express had the cheapest power race, med comp $120.01/$159.67 (180/55) plus shipping.
Chaparral has a temp special D208GP soft/med $109.97/148.97 plus shipping.

Shipping is what kills me, always an arm and a leg to Hawaii.
No particular Chaparral store, phone order.

And yes DoG, some Pirelli Supercorsas would be great, but that really costs a SH%T load.

Nice site for the tires. Thanks.

I asked about chapparel because I am close to it, like a kid in a candy store every time I go. [sm=drooldude.gif]
