Default PROBLEMS!!!

Hey out there! New to the forum...starters I have an 05 636, puig windscreen, K&N air filter, smoked front euro turnsignals, blue integrated taillight, Leo Vince slip on and a carbon look seat cowl. Waiting for Competition Werks to fix their machine and spit out some blue footpegs. OK now for my problem. I just did all this modification to the bike, rolled it out of my spare bedroom and cranked it...music to my ears for all of 2 seconds!!! it doesn't stay running. I've checked everything - wires, fuzes, fluids...hell I even kicked the tires. I have to turn it off and back on and start it and which point it stays on for a couple of seconds. The only thing I can think is the FI light comes on because the electric motor still spins a little even with the kit to keep it from doing so. I would go to a garage but I'm a few hundred miles from a garage that will work on american spec bikes. I live in Germany, only for another month and have huge road trips planned as soon as i can get her started and keep her running. Thanks for any help.

you may need a power commander, it could be running way too lean....happened on a ducati i had...

try putting back the stock filter, and stock pipe, and see if it fixes the problem, it seems like those are the only things that you changed between it working and it not working

I was told that I didn't need a power commander. After work I'll swap the old filter out. Changing the exhaust back is a bit of a problem though. Thanks

i heard that you shouldn't need a power commander with only a slip on, but if you change the filter you will.

Hey all thanks...8 more hours before work is done and then back to the house to try it out. I have 3 countries/3 capitols rides to start before the movers come to pick up my things.

I agree. Slip on and filter you will need to install PC. Let us know how it works when you put the stock stuff back on.

BTW welcome to the forum, where do you live in Germany?

I'm stationed in Spangdahlem Germany; not far from Luxemberg. I'll get a power commander once I get back to the states. I just want to ride the rest of the time I'm here and then it is off to Northern Cali.

Re-trace your steps and make sure you didn't leave anything disconnected. What parts or connections did you remove to install your pipe? Make sure you have the fuel pump connector plugged in and the battery terminals secure. There's a tipover switch that could prevent the bike from running; check that to see if there is any reset for it.

Done that twice. It starts but only for 2 seconds or so. I'm hoping that when I put the old air filter it fixes it until I get the PC.
