Default ok my ordeal...

ok well ill prolly get flamed for this but ohwell, im wearing my flameproof suit. I now have saved up enough cash to go buy a new 07 zx6r, i was wondering what would be the best way to go about this. If i go to a dealership out of state do i still have to pay tax? also whats the best means for negotiating the price to get a good deal. im gueswsing the 08s will be rolling out relatively soon, would it be in my best interest to wait? anyways any and all help would be greatly appreciated, I live here in Atlanta GA...

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Hello Josh . 1st Take the MSF course ( if you haven't already ) ..............if I were debating as to whether or not to buy a 07 or wait ................I'd get the 08 , as far as wheeling and dealing with dealerships it depends on how savvy you are. Your the only one who knows how much cash you have so I'd keep it pretty hush -hush with the dealers until they give you some idea on what they might be willing to do , chances are you'll have to pay tax no matter where you go . Each state has their own tax system so getting out of that will be difficult to do . The only way I can see to do that is to buy from a individual .Hope this helps . Peace

If you want to buy new. Go to a dealer and hang out for awhile and find the young sales guy ( they want to make a sale no matter what). Talk to him about bikes and the " out the door price" If he's cool tell him your buying the next week or so and you would rather buy it off him. The better friends you become with the sales guy the more he'll do for ya. They will usually discount you future buys on gear and such.

see OMalley's comments ..............spend a little time gettin to know them and give them a chance to get to know you .FN made a good point DO NOT PAY ANYHTING OVER MSRP .Buying used aint a bad way to go if you can trust who your buying from .I'd have to know a lot about the bike in order to buy used jmo of course

I have some friends I ride with at the local dealership and if they know your only going to deal with them after, they hook you up later. Sometimes with promo stuff too or crap that nobody picked up.

As far as the tax goes my sister got hosed. she bought a new dodge ram in Oregon with no sales tax. When she registered it in California they made her come up with all the sales tax for Ca plus late fee penalties.

I don’t know how the taxes work in your area, but research it out first. If you do buy out of state you might want to ask them to add your states sales tax to your loan so you don’t get hosed.

If there is not a big difference between the ‘07 and ‘08s I would get the ‘07 because you could probably pick one up cheaper. Dealers will mark them down to make room for the ‘08s
