Oil leak from pulsator plate
What's up everyone, I am having an issue with an oil leak on my 06 636 and it is coming from the pulsator (sp?) plate. It is on the brake lever side of the motor and it is kind of silver in color. The bike was down and the plate had a nasty hole in it. So i replaced the cover and gasket, but it still leaks. Not much but it still has a little oil after running it for a little bit. I was thinking about buying another gasket and having two on there to mae a better seal? Will this work? Do you guys know of any tips that can help stop it? Thanks for your help guys.
I am going to assume you mean the clutch cover. I would take the cover off and make sure the gasket is clean and make sure you cleaned off any gasket material left from the original gasket on the case. Then make sure you use lock-tight or other locking agent on the bolts and make sure they are torqued to 104 in/lbs which is about 8-1/2 ft/lbs. Also, it may take a little time and a few heat cycles to seal the gasket. NEVER USE MORE THAN ONE GASKET! They are designed to adhere to metal not each other.
Ok so i will not buy another gasket, but it is not the clutch cover. It is next to it. It is called the pulsator plate. Has anyone had to replace a clutch cover or a pulsator plate before? If so does it leak like he said? I have only drove it down the street a few times and there is just a little bit that came out. What do you guys think i should do??? Also thanks for the advice about the gaskets.
Remove it, clean it and put a really thin layer of rtv or sealant. Make sure there isn't a crack on the engine case. Also. there is a rubber grommet the wires go throuhh and they leak there sometimes. Clean & seal it.
I have some sealer on it now, do i have to give the sealer time to dry? Also wht can i do if there is a crack in the block? Is there any type of sealer to patch it? I am just trying to plan out for the worst case situation.

No not really. I bought the bike and replaced the cover and gasket. I have never done this before and not sure if i did it right or not. There is one bolt missing and i have ordered it, do you think that could be the reason for the little bit of oil? And whe i mean little it is not dripping or anything it just has an oil residue (sp?) but i know i cleaned if off from that spot. I just don't want to get out to the track and not be able to ride or has some oil get on my rear tyre and cause me to crash. Either way it would suck.
