Default Looking for a mentor of types for a restoration

Hello. Name is Todd and I just purchased a 1990 ZX600R from a coworker. He said that it had been stolen....and when returned the fairings were tore up and wouldn't start. This is the first "street bike" I have ever owned and am not too savy on the moto side of mechanicing....although I am no stranger to wrenching by any means. I am hoping someone would be willing to team up with me to just guide me through the process of putting the bike back on the road. I have sucessfully gotten the bike to start already although not running too well (understandable after his explination of its history and for sitting for four years). But I am just hoping that if perhaps I post some pics some one could point out what is missing on the bike so I know what to be looking for, and perhaps some certain aspects of the mechanics.....such as carb tear down to clean/rebuild. I would be most appreciative of any help, thanks in advance and ride safe.
Todd

Welcome to the forums. Go to www.kawasaki.com and to the owner information section to the parts diagrams. It will help you figure our what goes where and whats missing. Also pick up a Kawasaki, Haynesor Clymerservice manual; it will help get you going in the right direction. If you are mechanically inclined, it pretty easy to figure out. I'll try to help however I can.
