KAWASAKI ZX6R QUESTIONS
I am looking to get a 2006 zx 6...have some questions... whats the history, lets say in the past few years with performance, is it even with its class, atop?... also how about the reliability, is it a bike that lasts long? the shelf life...before it breaks down and dies...i am a novice and dont know a whole lot. Anything would help! Finally what about the overall package how does it stack up to say a suzuki gsx 6 for example, or the honda cbr 6?
Performance is great with plenty of mid range. It will easily last many tens of thousands of miles (over 40k?). Check www.craigslist.org in your area, you can probably get a heck of a deal on a barely used one (this can save you a thousand or so easy). I would have bought a '06 yamaha R6 but they wanted way too much for them and I couldn't find a good used one. A buddy bought a 636 and I liked the look and feel so got a black one with only 200 miles on it from craigslist for $7500. The bike mags were out a few months ago rated them all real close to each other (more of a style choice than anything). Make sure you budget for good riding jacket, helment, gloves and shoes. Your sig actually looks exactly like my setup, even the white lift.
THANK YOU...lol the pic of the bike...it aint mine, just the color of the bike i wanna gonna get... its some random one i got online...i cant buy one straight up gotta lease one, dont have the money
I am not one for brand loyalty, but after owning a few bikes from each of the four big manufacturers, I always go back to Kawasaki. My 91 Ninja had 44,000 miles when I sold it, I never did any engine work to it and it is still on the road. The new 636's are track proven winner's. 107 bhp puts its at the top of it's class for power and in my latest Cycle World magazine, every test rider put there personal fastest time down on the new ZX6R. 26,000 miles valve adjustement intervals means they are designed to last and not to be serviced too often. The Yami R6 is the only other bike I liked but the seat and seating position are incredibly uncomfortable and the price is in the 1 liter class.
I'm not sure how your shop does it...but here kawasaki doesnt require full coverage for insurance, but honda does. So, if you are kinda young, and plan to finance, you'd prob be better off gettin the ninja. However, just cuz it's a "Ninja", it's gonna be more expensive. It was like $200 less for the cbr than the ninja when I got a quote from progressive. That was full coverage tho, and both were pretty high. The honda bikes themselves also seem to be lil more expensive.
I picked the 636, and I am glad and wouldnt change my mind if I could go back and do it again.
