Intercooler?
I have seen intercoolers on bikes mounted behind the engine or even under the seat. Obviously one needs to do some plumbing and engineering of high and low pressure spots to get adequate air flow but i have seen it done quite tactfully. On the flip side, it seems like it would make for the worst turbo lag ever. Just figure i would throw that out there for you, a think outside the box (or fairing even!) kinda deal
Thanks, yeah I might just go with a strait to plenum setup but still not sure, just weighing my options thus far. Its far too cold to start because I dont have a heater in my garage, or lights for that matter. But as soon as I can find a good welder with some experience thats close enough to me I will take the header and turbo to him for a mock up. I just need to figure out whether to use a head spacer or not. Im trying not to put stress on the motor.
Oh and as for a sleeper, no one will know my bike is turbo. I am running the exhaust through my undertail arata, and the air filter will be small and quaint. only noticeable in daylight. But when they here the BOV its all over

Im using a lombardini turbo, and as for the set up, after all is said and done just the turbo set up will probably only cost me about $300. But mind you I got the turbo free, and the Header was only $25 shipped. And the extra left lower fairing was $35 shipped. The money will be in the fab work. Turbos can be had cheap, just check with your local factories. Odds are they will have junk engines with good turbos laying around. My best friend works at a plant and they go through engines like mad. He got two in the summer, one for me and one for him.
I will need a power commander and a good dyno run to tune it but I am hoping for about 140-150hp.

at 15psi, you dispacement is effectively doubled!
normally at 7.5psi if you made 100HP, you'll make 150
at 10psi, 100 turns into 166
at 15psi, 100 turns into 200
like on the other turbo post, it depends on how much boost you wanna run.
theres other ways of battling heat as well, water/methanol injection is fun....
with a turbo rated at 65% efficiency, a pressure ratio of 1.9, and an ambient temp of 80 degrees, the turbo's outlet temp would be a calculated 245.4 degrees. but you have plans on being far below 1.9 Pr, and probably have a higher efficiency turbo than whats in the formula in front of me..

I just read an article in Sport Rider and there is a company in Australia that made a supercharger for a Ducati 999. It doesn't need an intercooler. It makes 204 HP and is very streetable.Google up Squalo; name of the bike.
since i'm lazy....

that'll help if you still wanna go thru with it..
works for bike, too.

intercooler will take my cost up a $150 or so but I am still debating. A lot of the old GPZ turbo guys have went intercooled but they are pushing a lot of boost. Oh well guess I will try and make up my mind. Thanks and if anyone wants to continue this it will be in the "turbo info!!" Thread started by whitehendrix. In the General tech section.
