Well i got a jet kit and gas tank sealer kit. cleaned and jetted a spare set of carbs and got that in then used the seal kit. bike runs great now. thanks for all your help. i forgot to take pictures of it but the hose that comes out of the petcock for the main fuel supply fell out of the petcock and let the rust get to the filter of which some got to the carbs and restricted the bowl float valve so it wouldnt fill the bowls as needed. thanks for everyones help. im gonna get it dynoed later this week and see if it improved from the 96hp before it seems so but we'll see.

You may want to fine tune your carb adjustments some. Unless the exhaust smoke was from a cold ride with you blipping the throttle. (Not recommended by the way)Just my speculation of course.

Nice garage too!

it was like 9AM and 45 degs in the shop. why do you reccomend not blipping the throttle. when i did the riding safety course i think he told us to do that but i dont remember why. I have just always done it but i dont want to hurt anything.

The garage is pretty full the main project is restoring the 66 mustang in the background it was a northern car so it is rusty everywhere.

Cold engine at those rpms make me wince abit. A blip or two is ok, was just getting a feel of the situation was all.

so it is just a cold engine thing ??

p.s. anyone who has been following this here is a picture of what I found in the old fuel filter. This is the main reason i decided to actually seal the tank rather than just wash it out
