Do you have to remove the tank to take the battery out? Was hoping to just pop the seat and take it out but it doesn't look like the case.Please give me some help. thanks

 

What year do you have? if it is an 05 then yes you will need to loosen the Tank.

 

I have heard on some bikes like the 6R you have to take the tank off, hopefully one of the experts will pop in to confirm that I have a 7R and I don't have to remove the tank.

i think you need a second pair of hands to lift the tank in order to remove the battery. i've played around there and it doesn't look like there is any way to remove the battery without a second person holding the tank while the first person removes the battery... unless youremove the tank completely (including fuellines)... then i guess you only need 1 person....

either way, here's a tip - wrap the wrench you use to remove the battery terminal bolts with some kind of tape to prevent sparks ...

 

You can take off all the bolts holding down the tank and lift it up and prop it off to the side, I had mine resting a bit on the frame (I put some folded paper between tank and frame so it didn't scratch), then you can easily get the battery out or to the terminals, whatever you need.

I recommend taking the tank all the way off and setting is aside in a safe place. Make sure to disconnect all your connectors, fuel lines & vacuum lines. Hopefully it's not too full. As far as the battery; Take the negative terminal off first and you won't have any sparks and reinstall positive first.
