The overseas version of the '02 6R had a 636. Not sure why that motor wasn't in the US bike.

I remember reading an article in T.W.O. its a euro bike mag where they compared the 02 636 to the 05 636. I was shocked to learn the 02 came as a 636. yea its just a euro thing. sucks we never got it.

Right you are. I saw the 02 ZX6R 636 also. So I guess a 636 engine will fit pre 03 ZX6R's & ZZR600's. Okay, who's going to be the first one to put a 636 in their olderZX6R?

There is a guy who work at cycle gear with an 02 zx-6r. I gave him the copy of the issue I had. I wish i had meet him sooner. He blew the motor in the bike and wanted to put o 636 motor in it. he has another 02 600 motor but He is thinking of trying to get the 636 motor in it. My bike next to his the frames look just about dead on.

The bike hasn't changed much since 95 except for some body/ cosmetic stuff and the motor is pretty much the 95 design including the new ZZR 600's. The 636's difference was the extra CC's & fuel injection along with the suspension & bodywork. I bet the frame measurements are almost identical; looks like it to me. I bet a 03 636 rear subframe will bolt right up.
