1998 ZX6R will not start when warmed up
Hi guys, I am new to the whole motorcycle thing. Had my bike for a week now and love it, but I do not love its one and only problem so far. It refuses to start when warmed up, three or more bars. I can push start it all day long, but I'm a little out of shape and well I look like a dumb ..... you can fill in the blank.
The bike as 32k on it but the motor has been bored out to a 698cc, not sure how many miles since then. Has the yoshi pipe and other than that stock.
I have made sure its not vapor lock and have tried to jump start it to make sure its not the battery.
I can smell a little bit of gas when its not starting, I tried starting fluid, just a little bit but nothing.
As soon as it cools down it fires right up, some times it will start back after its warm but not always, and not good when I stall it in traffic, or during a down poor like yesterday.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Okay coils are good, but haven't checked the rectifier yet. No sound when you open the gas tank. I drove it around yesterday for a few hours and would stop every now and then and it started right up... I don't get it.

try checking your battery cables and make sure they are tight. I had a problem when they first gave me my bike not starting and it was because they didn't tighten the cables up enough and it wasn't making a good connection so no start when warm.
hope that helps maybe

Checked the connections they were good. The guy I got it from said the oil still had about 1500 miles left on it, fully synthic oil, decided it check it last night and wow is all I can say. It is as black as it could possibly be, and over filled. When the bike is upright the glass for the oil is completly covered, so it has way to much oil in it. I'm not sure if that could cause my problem but we will find out tonight. I did notice it is running warmer than it should be.

Found the problem finally. It was the plug wires. They were just pushed into the boot not screwed in. I was running on 3 cylinders basically. I went ahead and changed the plugs also. All I can say is wow what a difference.
