05 zx6r exaust problem!!!
hi everyone! i just purchased a 05 zx6r with 5000 miles on in. it has a slip on exaust by two brothers. the mid-pipe is also changed on it. this is the problem i'm having. the servo motor under the seat that usually adjusts the valve in the mid-pipe had a two brothers aftermarket billet aluminium piece on it. they told me that was to trick the computer into thinking that it still has a stuck exaust. the motor did not make any noise the first...50 miles i roe the bike, but now, after i ride it for a day and then hit the kill switch...the motor under the seat goes nuts. u can hear it going back and forth about 1/2 inch. i took the seat off and if you touch it, it stops. reset the bike and turn the key to on, without starting it, and it starts it again. if i let it cool off overnight, the next day its fine. now, is this something i should worry about?? i took it back to the dealer****, and they said it was fine. what do you think?
usually when you turn the key on you can hear the servo motor bang back and forth a few times. and sometimes when i shut the bike off, i usually do it by the key, not the kill switch, it will adjust. my fi light hasnt came on so i dont worry about it.
ya it is fine. It is trying to find the back pressure point. That servo connected to the factory exhaust and had a butterfly type valve on it that regulated the back pressure. Kind of like the exup system on a yamaha.
I've got a 05 6r with 2bros as well. The servo doesn't make very much noise at all. You might want to check and see it it was put on upside down/backwards ormybe it isn't in the proper "nuetral" position. If you need any info just let me know.
thanks for the reply. its only happening when i kill it from the switch. i usually dont turn it off from the key until i have to. but i thought the motor was going nuts last couple of weeks. rode it again today, and i did not notice it.
