Projections for the future of 650s
Hey all,
I don't have a bike yet and since I'm new to all of this, I'll probably start off with a used Kawi 250r. But I absolutely fell in love with the candy plasma blue '07 650r.
If all goes well, I'll be able to buy my dream bike early summer next year. I was just wondering if any of you had any predictions for how easy or difficult you think it'll be for me to find a used '07 650 next year.
I suppose people don't discard 650s as readily as they do 250s.
Any predictions??
Thanks!

i thought about getting a 250 to learn on but found a 500 instead. in my opinion i would just buy the 650 now and learn on it. as long as you arent ***** to the wall on it and take it slow there shouldent be any problems. if i could go back i would've just bought my 600 first and not messed with buying a smaller learner bike. its all about the way you ride it that makes a bigger bike dangerous.

i started out on the 650 right after i got out of the msf course. It was scary at first because of how big it was compared to the 150s we learned on but i took it slow and here I am 10K miles later with only a few drops in the first 500 miles.
Picking up a used 07 shouldnt be too hard. Just keep checking lots of recourses and dont expect it to be in your immediate area. I picked the red 07 over the blue because i just liked it better, but i love the 650. I almost traded it in to get a gsxr awhile back but decided to keep it and just get it fixed up.

"only a few drops in the first 500 miles" says it all.
Get an old 250 as you don't want to keep it for long. It'll give you the confidence to thrash it once you've learned to ride it. THe power won't intimidate you.
From some of the other fora it seems as though there a more than a few used 650s being sold by riders who bought them as first bikes and are injured enough to be unable or too scared to ride again.
And the new 250 is almost unabtainable - they're sold before they hit the showroom floor.
