Welcome to KF John, there are plenty of aftermarket pipes out there, dunno if yosh makes one for the 500 tho. I know a lot of people use the Saruchu's on the 500 and they sound pretty mean just dont expect it to sound like your friend's 600 after swapping pipes.

if you wanna get one go on ebay... way better deals.. a new yosh would cost you a pretty penny and sice you just bought a new bike its just gonna ad insult to injury if you buy new, and i agree a muzzy is a deeper sweeter sound... though the bike was made to have the most freedom of acceleration with the twin pipe design, the only thing you probably would add would be the noise, what kind of sound do you want your bike to make?
1. a high whine similiar to that of a 600cc super bike?
2. a low fat noise that barks kind of like a harley?
or
c... illegality?

Yosh's are too restrictive and quiet. You need to get a Muzzy on that thing if you ever want to see some real horsepower.
