how does this bike do on the highway cause i take the highway to go to work and ill be using the bike for that as much as i can. i assume u are all happy with your 500R. i kind of plan on getting a 600 bike though next year or so( i guess it depends on how happy i am with the 500R)... so ya hi everyone

Default RE: Purchasing a 02 500R

Not that I'm an expert on this stuff, but last September I bought an '05 500R with 2,500 miles on it and some damage to the left front fairing(he said it fell over while parked and I actually believe him that it just got knocked over) and its been great so far. Runs fine on the highway and I gotta' hold myself back to keep the speed down. Only thing I'd say is if you haven't ridden before, which I reallyhadn't, other thana fewtimes years and years ago, take one of those MSF classes so you don't ruin your new investmenton those firstfew times out. Then have fun. The price sounds more than reasonable to me, though I kind of wonder why it has such low mileage after that many years. If it was an '06 or even an '05 that would make sense but for an '02 to have that low mileage seems a littlestrange. Since last September I've put 3,500+ on mine just usingit to commute to and from work and that'swith it down for most ofthe winter.

Welcome to the forums.
The 500 seems fairly light which is a bonus to most newer riders and is also good to shorter seamed individuals. The MSF course is recommended by those who have taken it. So it must be pretty good. Good luck in the purchase.
