my ninja is Sputtering on highway! tubes under seat?
Hey all, i have a 94 ninja 500. I keep sputtering on the highway after 6k RPM...it just loses power and the throttle stops responding. Anyone know what this might be?
I noticed that the two tubes (one clear and one black) underneath the seat are just dangling...can this be the problem? I put two shirts underneath the seat cover..just wondering if I knocked something out. Any help would be appreciated![/align]

I would assume the clear tube is for the battery vent. The black tube, if like my 250R, is probably going to the fuel tank vent. Just check closely to see where these lines may have once hooked up at.

My 91 used to do that (more frequently than I liked) and it was usually an issue with my float bowl. Every time it was adjusted, it ran fine after that. I also had some small rust particles that were in the bowl I assume due to my tank (inside) being pretty rusty. Just some ideas to check out, I'm not a mechanic, I don't even play one on tv, but I did date one many moons ago.......

the black tube coming from the tank is the fuel overflow drain hose.
if the clear one you're talking about is attached to the battery, then its the battery vent.
its probably the carb vent hose though, that you are talking about. you can remove it if you like.
