Please help, need exhaust advice!!!
Hello, I want to put a 2-1 full system on my 06 ex500. From other posts and other sites, I'm leaning toward Muzzy, but I also want something that retains the center stand, and requires minimal modification as possible.
Also, what jetting changes do you recommend?
Any advice would be appreciated.

First question, how are your riding situations? What elevation and ambients are you planning on running?
edit: What do you expect out of your style with the mods to make you happy?

I'm in Wisconsin, riding anywhere from 45 degrees to 90 degrees, low elevation. I am looking to dump the dual system to save some space and weight, I am also looking to make a little bit more noise, and I will take any power gain I get from doing so.
Probably no surprise what I'll recommend....
Sarachu's.....
1. Weight Savings - around 7 pounds less than stock (aluminum)
2. Sound...loud but not too loud imo
3. install - cake, simply replace the old cans with these, takes all of 15 minutes tops
4. No cutting the lower fairing or removing the centerstand
5. No re-jetting - the guys at speed bike racing have tested with all different jetting settings also with and without a K&N filter
verdict is leave everything stock...thats how they race them. (Including a Brazilian Champion rider)
6. Cheap! $298 + around $35 shipping
About the only downside I see for you is if you are really hung-up on the look of a 2-1 system vs replacing the mufflers with these.

That's what I used to have on my 500, they'll be loud enough for you. With no other mods needed.
I think I'm gonna get some sarachu's if in fact they are simple direct replacement for stock exhaust. I've been checking their website periodically for a while now and they seem to always be on backorder for the cheapest aluminum ones.
+1 on the Sarachus. Easy to swap out with the stock cans - I love mine. When I first put them on I thought maybe they were too loud, but got used to them quickly. Check ebay also because occassionally Edgar will put them up on their to sell (or at least he was a few months ago).
If you do a 2-1, be prepared to lose the centerstand, and alter the lower fairing at minimum.
