opinions welcome :)
1st issue: bike dying while riding- diagnosis: pop gas cap-- bike starts and runs fine
2nd issue: bike wont start- diagnosis: idk -- after a couple hours bike starts fine and runs fine
3rd issue: bike dying while riding- diagnosis: unscrew each carb bowl for a couple drops-- bike starts fine and runs fine
each issue seemed to b on hot days, the 1st and 3rd were after the bike was rode for a couple hours.
any ideas?

Issue one is almost certainly a plugged or kinked fuel tank vent. When you open the gas cap does it make a sucking noise, like when you open a fresh can of tennis *****? If so, check your vent hose.
This suction effect could also cause issues 2 and 3.
Opening the float bowl drain screws would allow air to get sucked in there, which would allow the fuel to flow.
Check your fuel tank vent hoses. I'll bet one of them is either blocked, kinked or misrouted.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Peace!

hmmm hoses? i have only seen one vent hose off my tank...it runs off the lower part of the tank directly under the front of the seat...is there a chance i might b missing a vent hose?
there is no vent tube. the tank vents through the cap.
that hose you speak of at the rear of the tank isa drainage hose for the area around the cap, so when you spill gas or your beer in there, it will drain out instead of sitting there and rusting.
if you stick your finger in the hole and reach towards the back of the bike you can feel the tube that runs the entire length of your tank, and out the back.
IIRC, california models dont have the vented cap, they have a separate vent hose along with all that other emissions bull****, but the regular models all vent through the cap, and the one hose in the back is for drainage.

i talked to a guy today he recommended gettin a 2nd key for my bike and on long rides periodically poppin the gas cap...or after the tank gets 1/2 empty jus pop the cap and see if the bike dies...if it doesnt die after a long ride, replace the gas cap...
idk i guess its a 49 state model, cause there is only one vent hose off the back the other hose connects to the carb, and the other is the fuel hose...
thats cool i didnt know it was a beer spill fixer tube :P
its scarey im learnin stuff(lord help us all!)

ok the gas tank cap methodis officially busted, along w/ the cracking of the carb bowls screws. went to fire up the bike and same thing as before altho this time i had a couple things to try..so i popped the seat off and smacked the little black box on the battery a couple times while tryin to start it, nothin so then i smacked the little box on the right rear of the bike, there is 2(with the side rear fairings on its hard to get a good aim at them) i ended up hittin both while tryin to start and on the 2nd hit the bike fired up and ran...so what are these boxes? lol ...i know one clicks when u attempt to start ur bike
but thats the extent of my knowledge...

one is the turn signal relay (the smaller one)
the other one is the ignition coil ignitor. it is not servicable, and should last the life of the bike. it must be taken to kawasaki for testing if its suspected that its bad. often times, the best way to test it is to switch it out for a known good one off a running bike.

give us some more detail on exactly what happens...
when it dies, does it sputter and cough before it dies or just die straight away?
when you try to restart it, what exactly happens? does the engine turn over? does it start and run for a second? etc etc.

when it dies it dies..instantly no sputter cough nothing, im gonna have that box checked cause thats prolly all this whole thing has been is a malfunctioning freakin coil, cause i seriously doubt the blinker box is causin it to die/not start :P
