opinions on 500R pricing (year 2005)
Hello
I'm thinking of purchasing a used 2005 Ninja 500. It still got a year or so warranty and ~$600 in aftermarket parts. The bike is in 'mint' condition.
What do you think is a good price range for a bike like that?
Any comments are welcomed

How many miles on it?
Does the "aftermarket parts" include a pipe and jet-kit? (Serious points deduction if so.)
Is he/she throwing in the original stock equipment too?
Has it been down yet?
Are the maintenance record (including receipts) available for inspection/inclusion?
How many tattoos/facial piercings does the seller have?
How many CHILDREN does the seller have?
Why is he/she selling it?
Answer those and I'll come up with a few more...

I'm not sure about the number of miles, sorry.
The owner says the bike has new Sarachu slip-on exhausts (~$500) and new Pirelli Sport Demon tires (~$150), and he's also including the original stock exhausts in the sale. It hasn't been down yet, and yes the owner claims it had been garaged and has all the reciepts for the services from an authorized shop.
The owner is a college student, and I didnt see any tatoos nor kids
He's selling the 500 because he got a new bike and guess doesnt need this one.

Has he changed the jetting or any of the vacuum hose assembly?
I wouldn't take this bike seriously until you've seen how many miles are on it and have taken it for a test-ride.
And take a look at the basics to get a feel for this guy's mechanical empathy:
~Oil level
~Chain lubed and tensioned properly
~When you are riding it, get it up to 40mph and take your hands lightly off the bars (keeping them just above the grips, ready to grab them again!) If the front wheel starts waggling back and forth, the tires are cupped (at least the front) and will have to be replaced (which will give you some leverage for talking down the price a little.
I paid $2900 for an '02 that had only 202 miles on it, but that was when there was snow on the ground. (Nice weather always ratchets up the price for some reason.)
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Peace!

so i was reading this thread and couldnt help but notice you mentionded to take your hands off the bar at about 40..... when i do that my wheel shakes too.... just baught the bike and i think its the original tire.... has about 4800 miles on it, i assumed it was a balancing issue, how bad is the cupping and what causes it??
Cupping can happen as early as 4800 miles, but the wobbly front tire could also be caused by an unbalanced tire. If you just bought the bike, I would ask them to rebalance the tire for you. And if they won't do it for free, I'd find a different dealership with which to do business from now on.
Good luck.
