Default Ninja 500R comparison

I will like to know if my bike cooling system is okay by doing a comparison with your...

When I was in Quebec, the fan was starting below the 1/2of the gage for the temperature and it was never higher...now that I'm living inWA state (North West,)it start around the 3/4 of the gage but when I ridethe gage isaround the 1/2 and the fan doesn't work except if I stop to long at the light...

What your bike are doing?

Thanks.

I'm kind of curious on this myself. I have a used'05 500R that I bought last September. I live in New Jersey so its only now getting itsfirst taste of our hot and highly humid summers(temperatures in the 90s and high humidity). I've noticed that the temp. gauge tends toquickly head up to about 1/3 of the way through the white zone and in hotter weather to move up quickly to about half way or 5/8 of the way through the white zone, especially if she has to idle at a lot of stoplights but so farthere's been no overheating from her(maybe I'mjust not sexy enoughfor her). Anyway today riding home after work at about 9:30 - 9:45 at nightthe fan kicked onfor the first time that I'd noticed when I got home. It mayhave kicked on before while I've been riding and I didn't notice it but this was the first time it kicked on after I shuther down. And eventonight the guage never got beyond 5/8 of the way up through the white zone. It may be that I don't notice the fan kicking on with a helmet on and over the sound of the engine when I'm riding. I'll try to noticeespecially with this hot and humid season now getting intogear here.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to worry about that. I didn't heard the fan either when I ride but I know it start when the temperature gage stop to go up...I will maybe try to take a picture of the gage to show where the fan start...

Thanks for your answer.

you're ok. the fan usually doesnt kick in until past half-mark, sometimes 2/3.. and sometimes only after I shut the bike off.

I did notice today that the fan came on while riding though I couldn't actually hear it over the engine noise and with a helmet on.It was already on when I turned the bike off after a 15 mile or so ride in 90+degree temperatures and very high humidity but like I said I really can't hear when it kicks on with a helmet on and over the engine noise, I justknow it was alreadyon when I shut the bike down at home. Still the needle didn't really get past 5/8 or maybe 2/3 of the way up through the white zone so I figure its doing o.k.
