Default Ninja 500 missing key... bypass?

I found a used 2002 Ninja 500 for sale for a friend, but the owner can't find the key. How can we bypass the key to get the thing started so we can inspect it and maybe buy it? Is it as simple as unplugging the switch and maybe jumping across a couple of wires?

Thanks!

Rob

Does the owner have a title? Maybe if he does, he can contact his local dealer or Kaw central with the VIN number and retrieve a key code so a locksmith can cut a new key. Not sure if that would work, but the owner should make the effort here.

And in general, in my opinion it is poor form to explain how to hotwire a vehicle on a public forum.

Yeah he has the title, but we'd rather not wait to get a key made. We're going to go look at it this weekend. The key (no pun intended, honest) is to get the thing running just to make sure it really does run. From there, we can buy it and then get a key made. Or use the Screwdriver Method and order a new ignition that'll come with keys ($105).

Good luck RobG on your patience. As IDRIDR mentioned, it is taboo to post up hot wire tips on a public forum. Sorry man
