Who knows where I can find some lowering links for my bike?! I would rather change the links out then shave my seat. Does anyone know if other lowering links can be used instead? Thanks for any replies.

I don't ever remember seeing anything for the 500 wile I was looking for my bike.. and my bike is hard enough to find...

the best bet if to find some one that does metal work and have them lengthened.

Not rain on you but if you ever plan on cutting up in the twisties half way decent you will not want a lowered bike. Cut the seat and have a good gell insert installed that away you retain you needed ground clearnce and cutting the seat at a shop is cheaper than custom fab lowering links that dont exsist for the entry bikes. The 500 is realy great in the tight stuff it is a blast and easy to lern on that light of a bike.

I don't have any experience with lowering the 500 or shaving the seat. Mine seems to fit me just right. You might find some more info here http://www.ex500riders.com/forums

Good luck!

So, I am all of 5"1 and weight 107. I did not have any experience with shaving my seat down and I did it all by myself. All you need is a staple gun and a razor. It takes about 30 to 45 min to do and you will not have to pay for any labor coasts. I thought of looking for lowering links for my bike too but unfortunately I have not found a company that makes any that is compatible for our bikes. I will put some pic's up for you to see how my bike looks once I find out how to post them. Another benefit to not lowering your bike is that you are able to take corners the way the manufacturer intended you to take them, Pulse it keeps the warranty in tack. Gool luck and if you need help just email me at Vasmel22@yahoo.com.

I ended up shaving about an inch out of the seat for her. That got her more on the ball of her feet, instead of on her toes like she was originally. We'll see how that works, if not I will shave more out. They sure do put alot of padding in that seat!! There's still 2 inches of cushion left!

Yea tell me about it.... Well, I shaved so much off that my seat hight is now 28 inches vice the Stock 30.5 inches. It makes a big difference. But if you are going for a log ride take some brakes. Other wise your butt is going to feel like you just rode a horse not a motorcycle. I was thinking of getting a new seat once I feel contherable with my bike.
