Blue 500R it is - which I take is on the 2005 year run only.... (is that right? - different 2 colors each year???)

Next week I'll be calling places around to see if I can locate one of these bad boyz!!!

If it is the 2005, what should I be looking to pay for it from a dealership?

I just bought a 2005 black one with 10000 miles and paid 2850 with a Joe Rocket ballistic jacket, hjc helmet, and leather gloves (private owner). There's another black one going on ebay for buy it now at $4k with 500 miles on it. I haven't seen many blue ones when i was looking around (mid august). A local dealer was asking 3500 for a 2004 silver one with 1100 miles. If you see a blue one near by and you really want it, you should just snag it.

What's a good Out-The-Door price on the 06 and 07?

The only one place that gave me an out the door price over the phone gave me $5,549 for an 06 Red 500R.
Others say MSRP and that they will do the dealng when I get there.....

There was also an 06 Red 500R with 1,900 miles on it, they are looking at $4,499 with room to negotiate.

What do you guys think about the prices on this bike???

I think I will be ready to get on one of these within the next week or so!!! Can't wait!!!

 

Yuck...Those prices suck. I'd say the 06 (it's a dark red right? I think those are hot) you can probably get for 4k - 4200 with those miles. The only thing is, you could get a nicer bike for that price...not to say the 500r ins't a nice bike, but you could get a Suzuki SV650(S) for that price (obviously not new). If you are willing to spend that much on a first bike, you should look into the 650. It'll take you a bit longer to grow out of that one, and it's also a very forgiving beginner/intermediate bike. I'd say, finding a used 500r for around 2-3 k is a good deal, since hte most you may lose if you resell it would be about $500.

 

just found one that was blue but they freaken were asking $4800 for it - 05 with about 2K miles on it.... holly crap....
and found a few OTD for 06 - $4,999 and the 07 - $5,179.... I will try to get someone to drop a better deal on me for something before I finally get it.

 

I purchased my 2006 500R for $3300 OTD with about 1500 miles and still under warranty. Basically, kid started college...parents bought bike...kid failed some courses...parents sold bike to WAX!!! Keep looking one will turn up.

 

Yeah, you're right - unless I want to get a new one I can always take some time to shop around for one that fits me!!!

I thought the warranty was only for 12 months? Is there an extended warranty as well?

 

Yes you can buy an extended warranty through the dealership. My bike is still covered under the original 12 month warranty.
