That seems like a really good deal , as long as the bike is in good shape...check Ebay and see if they are selling for at least that, which they are, you can learn on it, and still get your money back!!

I don't know if 8K miles is a lot...how long do bikes usually last for?

If a bike is properly maintained and the proper maintenance intervals and isn't overly abused - it should last quite some time. Mine is a 94 and it has over 30,000 kms on it (about 19,000 miles, I think) My bike is in almost mint condition. I am the third owner and the two people that owned it before I did were very meticulous when it came to the maintenance on the bike.

8000miles is nothing. That's actually really good for how old it is. Good Deal.

 

I am selling a 2005 Ninja for $3,400. Oh it has 7300 miles on it. That sounds like a deal to me!

to be honest with you i've been seeing alot of 500r's for sale out there and for a few hundred more you could probably get a more recent model with less mileage on it. heck the blue book on a 2006 500r is about 2999.00 so the possibilities could be more in your favor if you save up a few more benjamins. good luck and i hope you find what you want out there.
