if they'll do it to a moving wall that will crush them then why wouldn't they do it to a motorcycle covered in huge flashing lights?

not to nit pick, but i saw this and it bothered me

There are large steel boulders, some of them weighing more than a ton
not some, but ALL. and sometimes they weigh two...

the only car i can think of off the top of my head that weighs under a ton is a geo metro, but only by about 200 lbs... get two people inside of it and youre over im sure there are a couple more out there that are under, but i cant think of them... probalby dont see too many of them either... maybe some MG or something

anyway... continue discussion

I do. And it's saved my bacon at least twice.
In addition to knowing exactly what's going on behind you, it's also a good idea to get into the habit of envisioning an escape route, (e.g. leaving enough space between yourself and the car in front of you, so you can squirt ahead and in-between the cars in front of you.
On one of those two times, I squirted ahead and lane-split and the approaching driver STILL almost creamed the car that was ahead of me--missed his bumper by inches.
Peace!

I do all the time as well, especially when I have to hit my brakes a little harder. I'll usually stay pretty close to the white line or the shoulder for easy and quick escape for the stupid cager behind me.

My first day riding on the road.I almost got taken out by some old lady in a minivan on her cell phone. She must of not seen my short stalks. I remember thinkin "wow fifteen minutes on the road, and Ive alsmost already been killed". But I did have a black ninja, a black helmet and black jacket. So maybe that's why. Now I have a white jacket, red helmet and red zx6r.

its not a good thing to rock all black woth short stalks.
