novice questions, but i need to know
its been a load off my back to hear fellow 250 riders calm my nerves. (1.) Ive got 1100 miles, and haven't done my first 600 mile service yet. Is there possible damage because I have waited almost twice the recommended time for oil change and service? (2.) Anyone hear about or know if using a synthetic oil, i.e. amsoil 10w-40 synthetic, for the first oil change is a bad thing to do? at least this early?
Thanks for your responses.

I would get done as soon as possible so your warranty is in good standing, however those engines are bullet proof. You really need to change the oil to get rid of the break in metal shavings. synthetic oil for wet clutch motorycles should be fine after your break in service. I had mine serviced @ 499 and have 1590 on it now and I will be switching to synth next change.
Good Luck

You may have blown the warranty leaving it this long. Otherwise, apart from maybe shaving a few miles off the engine life there's no harm done.
The main advantage of synthetic oil is claimed longer life. YOu should do an oil change at least annually, so unless you do at leat 8,000 miles a year there's nothing to be gained from using it.
