Ninja 250 gearing
Has anyone here changed sprockets on a 250 to lower highway revs? I'm not interested in the bike's ability to rocket away from stoplights as much as I'd like it to be in a more relaxed rev range at highway speeds. Any / all thoughts are welcome. I know it's completely within it's capability to run that fast, but if it doesn't NEED to, I'd be interested in lowering them a bit.
Thanks for any input.

I was told by the dealer mechanics to lower the rear from a stock 45 to a 41 and it should drop it around 600 to 1000 rpm. Depends on the front. If you change both, I he stated that it could drop it easily around the 1K rpm range running at 60-70mph which would help keep it from using more oil.

I ordered one for my 2008 andhave one sitting in the box my dresser at home, not sure if it is the right one. Looks like the older style gear based on other articles I have read about changing it. Tried Sat to get the nut off the front gear, couldn't do it. May need a long cheater pipe or impact. The nut size is 1 1/16. If anyone else has success, let me know.
That was my point of doing it, to drop the rpm from 8k to about 7k since I commute down the interstate at 70mph and maybe save more gas. I am still going to do it, need to wait for the 41 tooth gears to get in stock at Dennis Kirk....
