Default loss of creature comforts...

as i have ridden much more than i have actually set aside time to learn about the details of motorcycle anatomy, can someone tell me about the parts on a 250r that does not have to be there? - this is for a streetbike...so the obvious race reduction stuff wont apply. ex. signals, mirrors...

thanks!

You could turn it into a streetfighter machine and take off all the fairing![8D] Otherwise, about the only parts you could remove or change would be: removing the centerstand, changing the exhaust to a lightweight muzzy 2into1 system. The 250R is so basic that just about everything on it must be there for it to function.

welcome to KF. I used to own a 250, the only thing I removed was the fender. Other than that the bike is already pretty light. I did put smaller blinkers on but that was about it because I bought a 7R within 9 months.

you can cut off the rear fender, alot of people do that... but won't really gain you much weight.. maybe a pound? I say easist way to cut some weight is to go on a diet!

ah, the exhaust...i am truly in a quandrie sp? do i go with the 3.5lb cf Muzzy with a high matanience attitude problem or do i go with the TBR dual the weighs 5.95lbs but is much less drama?

i was thinking about the streetfighter route but am not due to lost of aerodynamics for freeway driving...

I did not see if the Muzzy came in a dual full setup or not.

it doesnt and thats why it seems to be the lightest option. TBR has a dyno sheet for their application and it showd that with a stage 1 jet kit 1.5hp gain was achievable. Thats probably comparable to the Muzzy but alas it is also 2.5lbs heavier.

I was thinking that a 4 into 1 full exhaust really puts the powerband up high. Not sure if the parallel twin can stay in the powerband with that combo and be streetable. Just a question mark for me as well.
