Default Highway riding

Can you ride these little things on the highway?I'm thinking about buying one and intend to do a little bit of highway on it.A friend of mine works with a guy that had one and he said that at 65 MPH thas tach is pegged.Doesn't sound right to me.My KLR 250 only turns 6500 in sixth gear @ 65MPH.Am I better off getting an EX500?

Yea I see 250's on the freeway all the time. The 500 depends on you and maybe the size you are, if you weight is around 200-250 I would say go with the 500.

I would go with whatever you are more comfortable with. Personally I have a 500, I love it! Heck I put 200 kilometers on her on Sunday, pretty much non-stop

But I am completely comfortable with the size, weight, handling and power of the 500. Most of my driving takes place on nice twisty back roads at about 80 to 100 km/h (have no clue what that is in miles per hour). All in all, you would be fine with the 250 or the 500. Just evaluate which one you like better, are more comfortable on and which one is more affordable.

Then grab one and get on two wheels ASAP!!!! Its addicting as all get out , god I love corners!!!

Sorry I'm still a little wound up from Sunday's ride and the fact that I'm heading out again tonight! Welcome to the forums btw!!!!

Heck, I'm 5-11 and weigh 250 and i am going to get a 250 because its what i feel most comfortable on. I went to the motorcycle shop again this past Saturday and my mind is made up that the 250 is what im going to start on, and i commute 70 miles to work and back round trip on the freeway and thats exactly what i plan to do when i get my 250. All the other bikes just feel to heavy to me compared to the 250 and if im not comfortable i think that will = bad news.

I agree with you 100% on that! When are you planning on getting the 250?

patmandoo - just remember when the time comes and you decide you want a Ninja - get whatever one you are most comfortable with. Hope you have fun with the KLR!

Thanks Bluebird!!! I will most likely be getting it around the time for my B-Day which is in October...so basically by the end of the year. I wish i were getting it now since the weather is perfect for it as compared to the end of the year when the weather begins to suck, but thats o.k. i live in Cali so its not that bad, i will still have my good days and btw it gives me time to enroll and take the MSF course and learn some stuff.

Thanks, Hawwk...
