Hey guys, I'm looking at a few bikes and wanted your opinions on what you think is the best deal.


'08 250R
1500 mi
$2500
Bone stock
Owner hasn't done any maintenance, bike turns over and runs great. No major damage whatsoever.


OR


'10 250R
3500 mi
$2700
Mods galore!
Took a few times to start but sounded good. Also was dropped in a garage, no major damage though.




I got real good vibes from the first guy even though the bike has had little (if any) maintenance done to it in 8 years. Both bikes look really clean. The second one is closer to me. I dunno, what do you guys think?

 

Have you considered the KLX 250? hehehe

I'm considering it.... hang on.... no I don't want it. JK! It looks good but I have my mind set on the 250R. Any thoughts on the two bikes?

Joking aside . . . I don't know too much about the ninja bikes . . . but

By no maintenance, do you mean no oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc changes for about 8 years? I'd be leery of that. Both bikes have so few miles its ridiculous. I put down 3000 miles on one ten-day ride last summer! For a couple hunny more, I'd go for the '10 with mods if those are the mods you want, they are done well and you can deal with the garage rash.

 

The '08 had 2 owners. The seller only put about 200 miles on it. Like I said no maintenance by the current owner and no maintenance record from the previous so I'm worried about discovering any mechanical problems down the line.


The '10 has mods which I don't care for and the bike seemed to be ridden harder. I also didn't get as good a feeling from the owner.


Right now I'm leaning towards the '08 because its more along the lines of what I'm looking for but just wanted to check with someone with more experience. Of course if I get the '08 I would service it right away.
