Personally I dont like wearing a helmet and would rather not, in Ohio you only have to wear one your first year. WhichI think is quite reasonable if your the type that feel that you dont need a helmet.
However, I have no control over the idiots on the road driving the cages.
When I first started riding there were no cell phones, mp3 players, dvd players or navigation units to take the attention of the driver away from the road. There werent SUVs with huge corner pillars that block the view of the driver (I know because I have one) I didnt feel as invisible as I do now.
I also have children and a husband to come home to, Im older and much wiser. I already used several of my 9 lives without even an ambulance ride.
I also want to be alive to sue the *** off the idiot that pulles out, cuts me off or runs a red light. I wear brightly colored gear so I can make sure I win in court and they cant say they didntsee me.
I also wear armor, glovesand street boots so that if I have serious body damage I can say I did my best not to be damaged and know it could have been worse.
And last but not least I am a disaster, prone to all kinds of stupidity. I would like to live to tell about and not have braindamage either.

Since I am pro choice, I say each grown person should be able to make up his own mind. I don't think government should be able to dictate to us things that affect our own personal selves. Government doesn't even have the ability to run its own house, so I certainly don't need them in my house.
This is a highly controversial topic but I think that I have the ability to look after myself more so than some government representative that thinks motorcycles have propellers. If I run my finances the way the government runs thier finances, I would be bankrupt. Plus ever government representative we now have has a price tag hanging from his hat.

I am a new rider...so having a helmet and all my gear on makes me feel more secure while im riding...
